may wrap-up

We are well into June and I'm enjoying a much slower pace these days. It's nice to not have 'plans' every day and be able to kind of come and go as we please. Here are my last photos from the month of May - Marissa's graduation from Kindergarten. It was very bittersweet. Her class sang along to the Raffi rendition of "What a Wonderful World". All the moms were very teary...our kids just seemed to have grown very close through the unique environment at Mari's school. We've made some very dear friends there.

The kids fingerprinted an adorable cookie jar for her teacher with the words "First Batch" on the front - how clever! It was her first year as a teacher - she's just 23...and the best Kindergarten teacher I could have asked for. All year long she encouraged her little "rock stars" and at the year-end party gave them their 'golden ticket' to move on to first grade, not unlike those won by American Idol hopefuls.

In the evening there was a "Kaleidoscope Celebration" where the classes performed musical numbers and each student received an award - Marissa got a reading award. Again, very cute numbers by the kids. It's been a wonderful learning year for her.

Sounds like Mari's first year was awesome. Glad she got a awesome teacher.

That hair picture is so pretty-- you're a great hair dresser, Angie! (and Mari has really pretty hair).

Congrats on your reading award, Mari! Here's to 1st grade!
