i feel like blogging about philip this morning. he just returned early Wed morning from Phoenix. it isn't easy to change time zones, let alone arrive in the middle of the night. but he got up and took Marissa to school and worked until after 8:00 last night. the kids and i took dinner to his office and we sat for a meal together in an empty office down the hall. he was up and at 'em this morning, taking marissa to school and getting his bags packed for another weekend away - this time in atlanta.
i don't know how he does it but every day he gets up and goes to work. i know how hard he is working because i see how tired he is when he gets home. but he rarely complains and quietly enjoys the small pleasures of being able to sit still. last night he came home and said, "i'm just tired of being busy!" i think busy is good - better than not having anything to do at work.
marissa and dylan are always asking, "when is daddy going to be home?" we usually define it in terms of sleeps: three more sleeps, two more sleeps... we talked last night about why daddy works so hard for us. i think that marissa is slowly starting to understand that dad's just have to have jobs and his is a busy one. but i told her that i remember my dad working a lot when i was a little girl too, and that i understand how she feels.
anyway, i think you rock Philip - thanks for putting yourself out there every day for us. we love you.

We define how long TJ is gone for in sleeps too. Its hard for kids to understand the work thing I think. My kids don't understand why TJ works as hard as he does but I guess its a good lesson for them to learn. Good for Phil and for all those other guys and gals out there who work so hard for their families!
That's dedication! Phil, you're awesome. We look forward to seeing you later this month. Angie, good job holding everyone together. It's a challenge!
You guys make such a great team. This was a sweet dedication to your Man! I love this picture by the way.
Sweet post. Phil does work amazingly hard. I think only dad's could really handle the stress and a schedule like that. Teo usually asks about his Daddy too...but I tend to think its because he's bored of me and needs a someone who will really play with him!!
That was such a nice post, Ang. It's great to show your appreciation for the work Phil does for you and the kids... and I'm sure he really appreciates the work you do too!
