going west

a while back i posted about philip's job interview with ingersoll rand.  redbull still had not shown any sign of moving forward with the sale of the team and so we were moving forward with our plans to look for other employment.   the IR job sounded like it would be ok but maybe not quite what philip was looking for.  they offered him the job....at a $70k pay cut.  yes, pay cut.  o-u-c-h.  well we just weren't interested in that at all.

a few weeks later we got a phone call from furniture row racing - a NASCAR sprint cup team based in denver, colorado.  we'd known that the team was out there but hadn't ever pursued anything with them.  after all, the whole point of philip going back to school to get an MBA was to get OUT of racing.  anyway, talks with them continued and it became very clear that it was going to be a situation that would provide our family with stable, long-term employment, financial stability and best of all, putting us back into the same time zone as most of our loved ones.  denver has been a place we have always talked about moving to and so, when the final offer was made, we accepted.

as i mentioned we have a three-year contract with them.  they have been very generous with our moving expenses and keeping our family mostly intact while we await the sale of our home, paying for philip's travel expenses back and forth.  of course the priority is to get to denver as soon as possible to maximize our family time together, but we are savoring our time here in north carolina and the friends we have made and will miss terribly when we leave.

we are optimistic for the future and pray that our home sells quickly.  and we can't wait to visit everyone out west!!
