Sunday Six - 8/6/11

1.  kids just say the darndest things!  here are few funnies lately:

*marissa was helping me sort through coupons and said, "mom, here is one for helaman's mayonnaise!"

*today marissa announced that if we needed her we would find her "in the highest room, in the tallest tower." (a.k.a. the playroom)

*dylan was offering some brotherly advice to marissa the other day, after she was complaining of a tag itching her inside her shirt.  he told her about when he wears a new shirt, sometimes the tag can bother him.  and then said, "but it's ok once you get the hang of the shirt."

*sunday night is garbage collection for early monday morning pickup.  this is one of marissa and dylan's chores.  last sunday when i reminded them it was time to pick up the trash i heard dylan say, "ok marissa - you be the donkey, i'll be the shepherd."  shortly after that i saw marissa crawling by with the bag of trash mounted on her back, held steady by the shepherd.  where do they come up with this stuff????

*today dylan bore his testimony in church for the first time.  he did a great job and was so cute walking up to the podium and back with his arms folded.  he sat down afterward next to me and said, "that was my present to poppi.  why buy a present when you can just GIVE a present!"  poppi is mario, philip's dad - and today is his 60th birthday.  happy birthday poppi!!  so glad we could spend it together.

2.  we are in the process of getting the kids their canadian citizenship.  i had my pal krista take their photos.  here are a couple of the outtakes...
funny story, both marissa and dylan chose their canadian shirts to wear that day - not knowing aboot the photos or aboot each other wearing them.  funny, eh?

3.  i want one of these...preferably in  my gift wrapping room...

4.  this past week little eli had surgery.  thankfully it was not to fix the dent in his skull (that is working itself out nicely on it's own) but instead he had a meatoplasty.  poor little dude.  he had a bit of trouble coming out of the anesthesia so we stayed at the hospital for a little bit.  he's doing fine now and hopefully this will resolve any issues that he might have potentially suffered in the future.  i'd really like to NOT see the inside of a hospital again any time soon...

5.  one of my new hobbies is digital scrapbooking.  well, not really scrapbooking - since i haven't really done a bunch of it, but mostly using photoshop to make fun, cute stuff!  i don't like a lot of froofiness (yes that's a word!) but i love a polished look.  here are a few of my things lately...
and i was lucky enough to design the pages for dylan's kindergarten scrap book - here are a few of my favorites...

6.  phil had a job interview this past week with Ingersoll Rand. their north american headquarters are here in davidson, nc - about a 20 minute drive from our house.  the interview went really well and we will see if an offer comes through - most likely after more interviews.  there are several men in our ward who are employed there and have given philip stellar recommendations.  in fact, the hiring manager for the position he applied for, just moved in a couple of weeks ago.  any job change is going to be a learning experience for us, but we are looking forward to phil graduating in four months and the opportunities to come!
