1) well, it is official. i am blogging from the warm comfort of my bed. ahhh....a girl's dream come true. well, this girl anyway. with philip's heavy travel schedule, i would often stay up late and work on my blog or email friends or shop online. i hated sitting in my office, at the front of the house, late at night, feeling like anyone could wander by and see me there through the window. i've dreamed of finally starting to write a book or some such project and would so prefer to do it in a more comfortable place than my $90 desk chair from target. so here i am. watch out world.
2) we had a pink eye scare this week. on thursday when i picked D up from school his teachers commented that his eye looked a bit red, and warned that pink eye might be right around the corner. D has always had a leaky eye anyway, and it tends to come and go. i didn't think much of it. the kids and i went swimming later that day, and i treated him with some homeopathic drops that night. the next morning is was ooze city. both of his eyes looked like he'd been on the losing end of a boxing match and they were full of goop. a trip to the dr. revealed mucho fluid in his ears and the diagnosis was that his sinuses were draining into his eyes. nasty!
at least it wasn't pink eye. he's on antibiotic now and doing swimmingly well.
3) i love date night. philip and i are pretty good about going out when he's home but this last weekend was particularly fun. friday night, we went out with two other couples and enjoyed a very yummy dinner, a delicious dessert and a movie to boot. it was even a GROWN UP movie! after my earlier post about chinese food, a friend emailed me a link to a wikipedia page about "calgarian" ginger beef being unique to just our city. the article did mention that general tso's chicken was the closest thing to it. so when we decided on asian for dinner, i was going to try the GTC and see if it satisfied my want. it did. it was yuuuuummmy! after dinner we sweetened the night with some italian ice/custard. i've never had it before and it was SO good. i will definitely give it a try again. it was a cold night so we kept saying how nice it would be to enjoy such a treat on a warm summer day. we then went and saw valkyrie - it was ok. i was about the only one in the group who wasn't familiar with the story, and didn't know how it ended, but i did know how hitler met HIS end and it was soon clear to me that the story would not have a happy ending. i love going to the movies...especially with my husband.
4) i may be embarking on a new fitness goal. a friend of mine teaches a pilates class at the y. she's the mom of a boy who was in marissa's kindergarten class. i just love her - so sweet and nice, a genuine lady. a friend of HERS is trying to get her to train for a mini triathlon, but she doesn't want to do it herself. it wouldn't be until october and the triathlon is only a 2 mile run, 10 mile bike and 10 lengths in the pool...whatever that is. i'm thinking it would be nice to have a goal to work towards...what do you think? i'd get a bike out of it too! :)
5) i attended a really interesting enrichment at church on thursday night. a sweet gal in our relief society taught about letting Christ into our lives. she used the story from the new testament of peter who walked on water, and when his faith wavered, he began to sink. Christ took his hand and raised him up. she encouraged us to focus less on the sinking part and more on the Christ lifting us up part. i really enjoyed the conversation and the feedback from the other women who attended. one part kind of freaked me out... the woman who was teaching had recently had a serious trial in her life. at one point she received a blessing that said, "you have received this trial because of your ability to forgive." it bothered me when she told me this. i have often been told that i forgive easily. i started to fear the trials that might come my way because of the strengths that i posses. we are given adversity for many reasons and i hope, that like this woman in my ward, i can get through what trials might come with as much grace and dignity as she has.
6) it's that time of year...time for an annual exam! yahoo! the reasons why we subject ourselves to such torture, i hope i don't have to ever experience first hand, but i in good conscience feel like i need to keep doing it year after year. i guess i feel lucky that my obgyn is such a fun guy to talk to. just get it over with and move on with an amazing 2009 i guess!

Tell Dr. Wilson "Hi"
I am sorry I missed Enrichment, sounds great!
I don't think you have anything to worry about, Ang. The thing about your friend's blessing is that it was directed to her, so applying it to yourself in this case doesn't apply. Besides, the Lord only gives us trials we are able to bear (I Corinthians 10:13- the old seminary scripture mastery).
Glad you had such a fun date night. You better get as many in as you can before the next season starts.=)
Love you and your Sunday Six!
P.S. I think you should totally do the triathlon. You'd totally kick a##!
congrats on having an ob/gyn that you like. mine, as you know, died and i'm having a hard time finding a new one! i totally think you should do the sprint triathalon. i totally want to do that! and lastly, i had NO IDEA that ginger beef in calgary was specific to calgary. who knew that we had such a treasure whilst growing up?!?
I think you should totally do the triathlon! Especially if you have someone to do it with--- someone to push you along, etc. And bikes are good (do it for the bike!)
