my other love...

after my post about dylan i was having some mom guilt about not mentioning my amazing marissa.

of course then i say to myself, "well before dylan came along, everyone i know received regular spam from me for months, filled with photos of her EVERY WEEK, sometimes EVERY DAY."

yeah, back then i was definitely a teensy, weensy, bit bored and lonely and post-partum...

anyway, every friday in marissa's class, the kids get to choose an item from the treasure box if their behavior has been acceptable all week. today she got to choose an item (as she always does) and when she came home she was so excited to show it to dylan and i.

now, the treasure box is filled with penny toys and fast food kids meal toys and things of that nature. she chose a star wars toy.

"i got it for you dylan!"

she was so excited to get it from her bag and give it to her little brother. and really, that just shows the kind of kid marissa is. she's very generous, tender-hearted and kind and i think her nature is so pure that way - it's certainly nothing she has learned from me or her dad, but just how she came hard-wired.

marissa - about 2 weeks old

you know how kids love to be silly? and sometimes they sing their songs in silly ways just to be....silly? this afternoon marissa had started to sing, "ding dong the witch is dead..." from the wizard of oz.

then, she started to experiment with other starting consonants. i had to ask her to kindly stop when she started to sing, "bing bong the..."

well...you get the idea.
