for me, the perfect cure after a long week, is to spend some time with girlfriends. a few gals came over friday nite for a little movie and girl talk. my friend krista came over for dinner first. we had:
mini pizzas topped with basil pesto, a little mozzarella, fresh tomatoes, artichoke hearts and feta cheese. YUM!
we watched music & lyrics - a fun little romantic comedy and we talked until the girls had to leave because my three-year old kept having nightmares. poor buddy.
thanks for coming over gals - i needed it!
i bore my testimony in church today. a good friend of mine, who is no longer active in the Church, inspired me to get up. i love her dearly and she's had some very difficult experiences in her life. the last time we met, we talked about how even though sometimes our wards may not function perfectly, we cling to our faith and we continue to go each week and serve.
in my testimony i talked about how wards are such an interesting 'human experiment'. we are only as strong as our weakest members. sometimes it is our turn to serve and sometimes it is our time to be served. as someone who has held three and four callings at a time, for the last several years, i have definitely had those moments when i've felt like i needed a break from serving. sometimes when i've returned to relief society, feeling like i could just coast through Sunday services, i've felt a void - void of that fulfillment that comes with purpose and participation in my callings.
i talked about how thankful i was to serve in the nursery (children 18 mos to 3 years). i am lucky enough to get to teach those little ones about Jesus Christ. nursery is their first opportunity at Church to learn the Gospel! i am happy to serve, because i know that it allows the parents of those little ones to serve my children and the other ward members. i so enjoyed the other testimonies today.
tonight the kids and i attend the baptism of several members of two families in our ward. it was amazing to watch their part-member families be unified finally together.
i am home tonight feeling uplifted.

You are so rocking my world these days with all of your posts! I love it! I'm glad you're feeling uplifted! That's always a good feeling. Love ya...you're the best!
Your testimony was beautiful, just like you! I am glad you have been here to serve me in my time of need, on more than one occasion you have uplifted me. Love you Ang
Thanks for the girl night on Friday! It was just what I needed. Thank you to for your testimony! You said some things I needed to hear. I've had some of those "coasting though church" times, and now its my turn to serve too, and I need to embrace that instead of fear it.
