1) i have the greatest friends in the whole world. they are considerate, funny, great conversation, sensitive, unselfish and a blast to be around. i had the chance to shop with my pal heather this weekend. she's totally, as my best buds julie and shannon would say - PLU (people like us). i was exhausted from having a sinus infection all week, but we enjoyed spending time in a busy mall without having to tend to our babies at the same time. it's amazing how satisfying the shopping experience can be without worrying that some crazy, psycho, pedophile is running off with your kid...even if the only stuff i bought, was for my kids...
2) i think we found a new babysitter. our other "regulars" moved away - one went off to college and the other one moved to illinois (we miss you hayley!!). the new gal was awesome with the kids and my house was tidy when i arrived back home. the kids really enjoyed her and that rocks.
3) the backpack is beautiful again.
though the colors aren't the perfect match to the butterfly theme of the bag (pink and lime green), the patch is adorable and completely covers the sharpie. heather and i found it during our shopping trip on saturday. the best $6.00 i've spent lately. patches are sew fun and sew easy! it was an iron on, but i stitched it on as well, just for good measure. here are a few tips for sewing patches - in case you haven't had to do it for scouts/brownies/sharpie-happy-1st-grade-teachers:- decide where to put your patch and staple it on first - that's right, just use a regular stapler. this will keep it in place and is easier than using straight pins.
- use clear thread. you can buy it anywhere thread is sold. it is a lot like really thin fishing line. do not however, use clear thread in your bobbin. use regular thread, preferrably the color of your material.
- the 'needle down' feature on my sewing machine is very helpful when you need to change directions - which i did with this patch a lot. the needle stays down, you can lift the presser foot and move your material. backpacks are a challenge!
honey, i'm so proud of you. i'd love to see you get to be home more. but please promise to check ALL of your pockets so that your pens stop staining the laundry. k, thanks.
5) marissa is already in dream land, probably ibuprophen-enduced, since she's showing the signs of coming down with what nasty sickness we've all had this past week...BUT i'm blogging with this:
his sleeping patterns lately have been a little erratic. he still naps (he needs it!) but does have a hard time settling down at night unless he's either sleeping with me or if i stay next to his bed while he falls asleep. tonight (mamma wanted to blog!) i just finally had him get his pillow and come lay down beside my desk. notice his new pal MAX. i was afraid that he might replace blue dog, whom dylan has had since the day he was born, but Mr. D has taken both pooches in stride.6) and finally, i want you all to know how much i hate sitting in the overflow at church. yes, i was one of those who was late for our first sunday of 1:00 church. i'm ashamed. so unlike me and so unacceptable! we had to sit three rows from the back, and our ward averages over 350 people each sunday. it's crazy huge for our small building. i admit that i am a padded-pew-snob and i now recommit to never be late again. it's so not worth it!
the family behind me, who shall remain nameless, left their three pre-teen children sitting alone while both parents sat in the lobby with their toddler. who does that?? i had to "shhhhhh" their kids three different times, all the while craning my neck to see if there was any space in the pews where i could relocate and put myself out of my misery. never again people, never again.

Last night my Dad came home and said that he had freaked out when he had read that Dylan got "a new black lab". He said he had visions of Marissa in the corner scared and crying. After raising is blood pressure, he soon realized that the new black lab was in fact, a Webkin. Hilarious

Congrats on the renewing of the contract! That is a relief! I'm glad that Blue Dog hasn't been replaced by Max and that D found it in his heart to accept and love BOTH doggies. The patch on the back pack is ADORABLE!!! You'd better talk to Mrs. Sharpie so she doesn't defile the backpack anywhere else! And I love you. Thanks for making me smile every day!
