movin' on...

i know i have some catching up to do on the blog, but since my imac is in storage, i'm just going to start with the current events and add some posts later.

we've officially left mooresville.  i'm not sad.  i should be i know, but i'm just not.  i loved our experiences there but have been wanting to move west since about 10 days into our first move there in 2002.  i will miss my friends of course, but look towards the future with great anticipation for good things to come.

tonight i'm typing this post from the lobby of a courtyard marriott hotel in florence, ky.  if you don't know where that is, is just across the river, south of cincinnati.  this is not the path we would have traveled en route to denver but philip is racing here this weekend and we decided to tag along.  we'll depart early sunday morning together as a family to continue the rest of our journey.

today the kids and i decided to head to the cincinnati zoo.  it has a good reputation and we had coupons from the hotel.  it has been very hot here lately so we decided on an early start.  unfortunately the heat came early and was past 100 degrees by about 10:30.  right about the time that we needed an air conditioning break, the power went out in the area of the city where the zoo grid is located.  the zoo promptly closed the indoor exhibits, leaving only the bathrooms and gift shops open.  of course the air wasn't working and those areas quickly got hot.  the kids were spent and we decided to bail.  we got a refund and went back to the hotel.

we had about a three-hour nap and then went for a swim in the hotel pool.  we had dinner and dessert at chick-fil-a.  we're near the airport here so we drove over and watched planes land and take off.

today also happens to be my 34th birthday and i spent it with my three favorite little people.  only wish philip had been there too.  but he's here working on his own laptop so my day is complete.
